Parents Tryout Letter
Parents, please read the following information carefully
1) Pre-register for tryouts at millburnsoccer.com - registration is free and will allow us to know how many players to expect and provide accurate contact information for rainout notification and post - tryout communication.
2) TRYOUTS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PLAYERS, INCLUDING CURRENT PLAYERS.
Any player that cannot attend due to illness, injury or other emergency must contact the MSC Coaching Committee (millburnsoccer@gmail.com / 973-544-8786 ) before the scheduled tryout time. MSC may hold a second day of tryouts for certain age groups. These sessions will be communicated via email and on the MSC web site.
Conflicts with other sports are not acceptable reasons for missing tryouts.
Players may not participate in a tryout with another age group without prior permission from the Coaching Committee. Goalkeepers should attend both the regular tryouts and the Goalkeeper tryouts. Players attending the Goalkeeping tryouts shall be considered as keepers (at least part time) for their respective teams.
3) EVALUATION PROCESS AND TEAM PLACEMENT
MSC hires professional trainers to run all of the tryouts. The Coaching Committee reviews the tryout results along with the written player evaluations and player rankings by the team trainers. Attendance records are also considered. Skills considered during tryout evaluations can be viewed on the club website (millburnsoccer.com) along with the attached schedule of dates. Rosters are made by the Coaching Committee and are approved by the MSC Board. All tryout and player evaluation information is kept confidential and is not available for dissemination.
4) NON- RESIDENT PLAYERS
MSC Bylaws allow for non-resident players on our teams when appropriate. Historically non-resident players are offered a position if: 1) they are a high level player and will strengthen a team competitively and/or, 2) players are needed to fill a team roster in order to field a team.
5) MILLBURN SOCCER IS NOT A RECREATIONAL TRAVEL PROGRAM
Only players and their families who are willing to commit to BOTH the Fall 2009 AND Spring 2010 travel soccer seasons should try out for a Millburn Soccer Club Team. MSC is a private non-profit organization that strives to provide a soccer program for players who wish to play at the highest level of competition. We urge all parents to become familiar with the MSC program (and bylaws) to determine if it is the appropriate venue for your child.
6) POST-TRYOUT INQUIRIES
Parents will be contacted by mail on or about June 9th as to their child’s placement for the fall season. Any questions regarding your child’s status are to be directed to the MSC Coaching Committee.
We hope this letter addresses most of your questions and concerns. Please feel free to contact us with anything further. We always welcome constructive suggestions.
Sincerely,
Millburn Soccer Club Coaching Committee - millburnsoccer@gmail.com - 201-303-8870
